Success at the OSU Science Career Fair

Oct 16, 2019 – Azimuth Corporation’s Dayton Business Lead, Jonah Nelson, and Senior Technical Recruiter, Shawna Owens, attended The Ohio State University (OSU) Science Career Fair aimed at The College of Arts and Sciences of OSU. The event was for undergrads, grad students, and post-docs. We kicked-off at 11:30 a.m. at The Union on campus and a wealth of students stopped by to speak with our team about their backgrounds and ambitions as it pertains to our work supporting the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL).

After the fair, Jonah and Azimuth Research Scientist David Turner, PhD went to the Mix and Mingle portion of the recruiting event geared directly toward post-doc students in various technical fields. The event was broken into two halves – the Mix portion, set up in a ‘speed dating’ style, wherein companies were provided five minutes to discuss who they were, what they do, and the kinds of skills they were in search of as pre-set groups of students rotated through. The Mingle half of the event gave students free range to revisit any particular companies that caught their interest for a more one-on-one conversation, giving our Azimuth representatives a chance to talk more specifically about our work with AFRL. We received a stack of resumes from students that were interested and we are just as interested in potential hires from there as well!
