Current Positions:
Technical Writer—Full Time
The technical writer’s job focuses on creating accurate and comprehensive documentation of technical and business processes for target audiences. To develop these process-oriented documents, the technical writer develops medium to large documents as part of a cross-functional team consisting of subject matter experts (SME), technical editors, documentation specialists, business analysts, technical specialists, functional managers, developers, and project leads.
The ideal candidate possesses excellent written and oral communication skills (including interviewing); readily absorbs and synthesizes new information; follows generally defined practices, policies, or documentation guidelines; and requires minimal supervision.
Primary Duties
- Participates in significant communication with cross-functional teams on expectations, documentation scope, and content structure
- Gathers information by researching, studying existing material and interviewing SMEs
- Synthesizes raw material and arranges it in logical sequence
- Creates initial drafts and collaborates with SMEs and document testers to develop drafts
- Collaborates with technical editors to review, revise, or update current documentation
- Follows established project templates and guidelines
- Manages multiple documents in various stages of development
- Assists team members when needed
- Works in Microsoft Office 2003
Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience)
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience—major or concentration in English or Technical Communications a plus
- Experience in writing clear, concise documents, such as procedure manuals, service manuals, online help files, and training documentation; will consider other related writing experience
- Mastery of the English language
